basel rajoub - khameer

Basel Rajoub is a Syrian saxophone player born in 1981 in Aleppo, Syria. He Graduated from the Conservatory of Damascus in 2005. He is continuously studying saxophone, music composition and arrangement through workshops in various countries of the world with the participation of international musicians. Basel's studio work includes the arrangement of Lena Chamamyan's albums : "Asmar Ellon" - 2006, "Shamat" -2007 and "Khait Alkasab" -2009. In 2006, Basel and Lena won the first Radio Monte Carlo Moyen-Orient Music Award at the Al Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman, Jordan for the album "Asmar Ellon". He also composed one song in the album "Zeina" for the German Accordion player Manfred Loistr.



In 2009, Basel started recording his own debut album "Khamir". The essence of the album lies in the mixture of oriental music and jazz. He had participated in many orchestras such as the Syrian Jazz Orchestra where he performed in several concerts with his own band in the Syrian Jazz festival in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and also concerts in Turkey (Spengah university), France (Arab World Institute in Paris), Jordan (Jazz festival), Egypt (Genenah Theater), Germany(Morgenland Festival), United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi), Austria (Borghei Land bas),as well as four participation's with Lena Chamamyan in Austria and most recently the Graz Jazz Festival.


Basel Rajoub is currently playing in various bands including the famous Lebanese musician Ziad Rahbani's band. He also performs his original music in the Middle East. He recently had the pleasure to share the stage for three concerts with one of the greatest saxophone players alive, Charles Davis. Another great highlight of Basel's career was to participate in concerts with Alim Qasimov in Syria and Egypt.
